1st LD Writethru: 5.9-magnitude quake hits Hindu Kush Region -- GFZ

ISLAMABAD, April 3 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake was felt in Pakistan's capital Islamabad at around 9:15 p.m. local time on Friday.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 jolted Hindu Kush Region at 1612 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 170.6 km, was initially determined to be at 36.48 degrees north latitude and 71.00 degrees east longitude.
