Damascus, Jan. 7 (SANA)Syria has officially launched the al-Madina Food City raw sugar refinery in Hassia Industrial City, the countrys largest facility of its kind, theMinistry of Economy and Industryreported on its Telegram channel.
The refinery has a production capacity of 3,000 tons per day, equivalent to 800,000 to 1 million tons per year, and uses technology from the German company BMA. The project was implemented by the Tunisian company BIA.
According to the ministry, the facility underwent comprehensive rehabilitation after liberation, including upgrades to equipment and workforce, increasing its daily reception capacity to 5,000 tons.
The refinery also provides around 250 direct jobs, and operational trials confirmed that it produces sugar meeting European standards, intended to meet domestic demand and support future exports.
