5.6-magnitude quake hits west of Macquarie Island: GFZ

BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 jolted west of Macquarie Island at 2247 GMT on Saturday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 85.5 km, was initially determined to be at 56.65 degrees south latitude and 147.34 degrees east longitude.
