RIGA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Latvia's defence corporation Valsts Aizsardzibas Korporacija (VAK) and Germany's Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH on Thursday signed an agreement to build an anti-tank mine factory in Latvia.
VAK board member Ingrida Kirse said implementation of the project would begin with selecting a site for the prospective factory and preparing an estimate of the required investment.
Other Latvian manufacturers will also be involved in the project as suppliers of raw materials, Kirse said, adding that construction of the factory could start in 2027, with the production plant expected to become operational in 2028.
Kirse also said VAK and Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH could establish a joint venture, which would allow the two companies to pursue additional projects in the future.
