German shares edge down Monday

FRANKFURT, May 17 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index down 20.02 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 15,396.62 points.

Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero lost 2.79 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by the energy division of Siemens Group, Siemens Energy and its parent company Siemens Group, which lost 2.58 percent and 2.12 percent respectively.

Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas gained 2.86 percent, becoming the top gainer. Telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom and automotive manufacturer BMW advanced by 2.74 percent and 1.21 percent respectively.

Deutsche Telekom was the most traded share with a turnover of 270.98 million euros (329.05 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.22 percent to close at 1.627 euros per share on Monday.
